BWS07 Serviceman Shirt 11.5 oz. Indigo Wabash Selvedge Twill

The BWS-07 SERVICEMAN SHIRT is a modernized version of the classic utility shirt with a regular fit and longer cut. It features vintage details such as classic cuff vents, side panels with chain stitch finishes, and the characteristic horn-shaped back yoke. The open chest pockets with button closure offer space for pens. The fabric's selvedge is visible on the inside of the placket. Thanks to its length, it can be tucked into trousers or worn casually untucked.

Wabash fabrics are known for their characteristic dot stripe pattern, typically on an indigo blue background. The pattern is created subtractively, not additively, meaning it is not printed on the fabric but created using an etch printing process. After dyeing the fabric, a chemical solution is applied with embossed rollers bearing the specific pattern. The origin of the name "Wabash" is somewhat shrouded in mystery, and various theories can be found on the internet. The most common states that the name comes from an 18th-century confederation of indigenous tribes: the Wabash Confederacy, who lived along the Wabash River. What is certain is that the most famous manufacturer of this fabric was the American textile and denim brand J.L. Stifel & Sons, active during that period.
