ONDURA is a one-man manufactory. Founded in 2013 by Leens Jan Ondra in Bünde Westfalen / Germany. Born and raised in a small town, inspired by punk music and D.I.Y. subculture. For almost 10 years he lived in a 6m2 Hanomag A-L 28 truck. This lifestyle made him a minimalist; less is more and quality prevails. After his apprenticeship as a carpenter, he successfully studied fashion design at the renowned Berlin Weißensee School of Art. After some unhappy years as a designer in the "fast fashion industry," he finally became self-employed: ...out of love and passion for genuinely durable things.

What kind of products in today's throwaway society can still be described as durable and long-lasting, with ever-increasing beauty? For Ondura, it was a conscious decision to produce quality products that are particularly durable and authentic. True authenticity and good taste cannot be bought. You have to feel and live it...

Naturally vegetable-tanned leather is tanned according to a centuries-old tradition/method with the addition of various vegetable ingredients. The active substance in vegetable tanning is tannins. This tanning agent is present in different quantities in, for example, tree bark, wood fibers, fruits, and roots. Depending on the concentration of tannins, the mixture of ingredients, and the duration of tanning, different color variations are created. This leather is also called bark-tanned or ancient-tanned. Over time, the leather acquires a unique patina that is entirely dependent on the wearer. Sunlight, daily touching and use, water stains, and subsequent treatment and finishing with special leather waxes and oils give the leather this incomparably beautiful, authentic look.
