Nigel Cabourn, celebrated as an iconic British designer, has been in the industry for over fifty years, producing collections that are not influenced by ‘fashion’ trends but are driven by inspirational stories of real people in history, and vintage military, outdoor and workwear pieces.

Nigel Cabourn has a long history and close affinity with Japan. The brand has built up a loyal following there since the 1980s, and Nigel is held in very high regard as a world-class designer and collector of rare vintage sports, outdoor and military clothing.

"I do not refer to myself as a ‘fashion designer’ as I do not follow fashion. Everything I design is either inspired by a moment in history, an inspirational person, or a vintage garment. For over 35 years I have been avidly collecting vintage military, sports, expedition and workwear clothing, as well as books, accumulating thousands of pieces from all over the world. I am absolutely fascinated and excited by the fabrics and details of these functional, comfortable and above all durable garments that, by and large, were not designed by fashion designers but by technicians and scientists. For me, the product comes first. The fabrics and trims, and the manufacturers we work with, are all carefully chosen to enable us to make the best possible garments. Ultimately, my aim with any collection or collaboration is to create timeless styles that are long-lasting, will get better with age and wear, and that will still be relevant for years to come. Clothes that people can wear for a lifetime and then pass down to their children."
